Rona Altschuler

Rona is a native of Newport News, Virginia where she resides with her husband and has one grown son. She attended Old Dominion University and graduated with a BS in Dental Hygiene in 1975. She currently practices part time in Newport News.

Rona is an active community volunteer. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society from 1992 until 2002. She chaired their national fundraising event on the Peninsula,”Relay For Life” from 1997-2002. Rona was recognized as Daily Press Citizen of The Year in 2000 ,for her successful efforts in bringing the Peninsula together to raise awareness and millions of dollars in the fight against cancer through Relay For Life.

She also chaired the Arthritis Walk for several years before taking the leadership role as chair of the Alzheimer’s Association’s national signature event on the Peninsula, “Walk To End Alzheimer’s” from  2009 -2014.

Rona has a passion for exercise and has been an avid runner since 1970. She has completed over 20 marathons and shorter runs in many different states. Her most recent physical accomplishment was to ride a bicycle across the United States from San Diego California to St. Augustine Florida  to raise awareness and fundraise for Alzheimer.
